A Great Weekend!

Hey everyone,

For those of you who don't know yet, Ethan's surgery on Friday was successful. It was very stressful for Tina and I, because it lasted 4 and 1/2 hours. However, in the end they were able to close the hole in his trachea and attach his esophagus to his stomach. I just left him at the hospital, and he's doing very well. The plan is to try to take him off the ventilator for good this upcoming weekend. Hopefully, we've about come to the end of that road. He's a little puffy right now, and is enjoying a constant dose of morphine, but overall is doing great.

The other great news is we brought Kevin home from the hospital last night. It was such a blessing, but I think we got about a total of 1 hour of sleep the entire night. The boy has his days and nights a bit backwards. We are working on fixing that. We were able to find a bottle he seems to like, which seems to be helping.

Kristen is staying with us tonight. She's going to help out and take me to the airport tomorrow morning for my red eye back to Manchester. We definitely appreciate all the help everyone has been giving us. We are a few steps closer now to eventually getting the entire family out to New Hampshire.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

Ryan, Tina, Ethan, and Kevin

  1. Consider trying a radio/TV on while Kevin sleeps at home. He's used to somewhat non-stop noise, even at night and it being quiet might throw him off a little too.

I'm glad you have Kevin home and hope they are able to extubate Ethan and he behaves himself this time!
