Hi everyone, Tina here today!
We have some good news to report, Ethan has been off the vent for three days now!! He has done so well and has not needed the additional support. This is huge for us and something we always knew he could do, if just given the chance. What is even better is that he is gaining great weight as well!! He last weighed in at 13 lbs and 8 oz. It is such a relief because we were told that if he was not gaining weight, we would have to keep him on the vent. We are so excited!!! We are so close to bringing him home. The doctors want to monitor him for a few weeks now that he is off the vent to make sure that he is handling his gases (O2s and CO2s) well. Ryan and I are pushing for him to come home asap so we are getting in all of our teaching so we can bring him home quickly.
RIght now my mom is visiting and will be here until the 20th. She has been such a HUGE help with the boys and as is evident by the picture above, they love having her here! We took Kevin to the New England Aquarium on Saturday and he loved it! We ended up getting a membership for the year and can get 4 people in free - so anyone who wants to visit...! My sister Liz is coming in for Easter and will arrive on the 20th, the same day my mom leaves. It will be so nice to have her here for the holiday!!
The weather here has been so nice and we have been able to take Kevin out a lot. He loves it outside and is so curious about everything he sees. We can't wait to bring Ethan with us on our walks!! Hopefully we will be able to make it to the beach/coast when my sister is here so we can show Kevin the Ocean.
