Happy Monday everyone,
Just a quick update on Ethan. He went in yesterday, and they put his trach tube back in, so he is off the NT tube. It doesn't sound like it, but it is an improvement. The surgical team did a bronchoscopy at the same time to try and figure out what happened. They did notice some tracheal collapse around the trach site, but believe he should have been able to overcome this. Their theory is that due to his heart defect, along with premature lungs, and the tracheal collapse, it's just something he'll need to grow out of once he's stronger. They did put in a smaller trach tube this time, and Tina is downtown right now with the surgical team discussing the plan from here. I'll keep you posted.
